Skagit Kids Read Week is an annual celebration of literacy marked by community readings, events and activities. The Skagit County Commissioners make a formal proclamation declaring the week as ‘Skagit Kids Read Week’, a featured author is selected and their works become the central theme of the week. Join us in promoting literacy and the joy of reading!!
This year our featured author is Barney Saltzberg and his book “We’re All In the Same Boat”
- 2023’s dates are May 7-13th!
- Participate in “Get Caught Reading” – share pictures and video of you, your family and friends, caught in the act of reading on the Facebook event page!
- Thursday, May 11 – Numerous readings across the county! “We’re All In The Same Boat” will be read throughout the county. Details coming soon.
- Friday, May 12 – 10:30am-11:30am – Readings at Burlington Public Library “We’re All In The Same Boat” & “Beautiful Oops” read by author Barney Saltzberg.Saturday, May 13 – 10am-12pm - Community Event & Celebration at Children's Museum of Skagit County. Multiple language book reading! “We’re All In The Same Boat” read in English by author Barney Saltzberg, and Spanish, Mixteco, Russian/Ukranian, Lushootseed, Danish, ASL and Chinese by community members.

- Book Signing with Barney
