El Grito is a traditional celebration of Mexican Independence Day. Through this event, SVC hopes to foster a culture of belonging and provide a space for the community to celebrate traditions. The event will feature the presence of the Seattle Mexican Consulate, H?ctor Iv?n Godoy Priske, C?nsul Titular, local food vendors and merchandise vendors, resource fair, and performances.
It is free and open to the public. All are welcome!
On Sept. 16, 1810, Mexico reclaimed their independence from the Spanish monarchy. El Grito is a traditional celebration of the independence held two days before on Sept. 13. Through this event, SVC hopes to foster a culture of belonging and to provide a space for the community and students to celebrate and practice the tradition.
